KLM Price Drop London to Amsterdam

KLM have today announced a further price drop on their London to Amsterdam route. Fares now start at £81 (including all taxes and charges) and this fare is valid for travel up to the 30th of June.

It may seem like I’m a skiing fanatic. In fact I have never skied in my life! However, I have come across a chartered airline selling their excess seat capacity cheaper than their competitors. This may be of interest to all you avid skiers.

The website is http://www.jfl2go.com/ They offer surplus seats on their charter flights to the general public. These are at a considerable discount to the scheduled carriers. They advertise:

• No Charges for ski carriage



• No Hidden Taxes or Compulsory charges



• No Charge for pre-allocated seating



• No Charge for meals drinks or newspapers

So what is this business? Yet another new low cost airline! The answer to that is no! The parent business is Just Flights, a 20 year old UK company. They charter about 30 passenger jets each weekend during the European Skiing season and sell the seats to ski tour operators. Just Flights built its business with "high end" service rather than the traditional charter flight image of "no frills and no service".

Over the past few years there has been an emerging trend for do-it-yourself skiing holidays. Simultaneously, some scheduled airlines have started adding extra seats to their planes. Just Flights found itself with extra capacity (approx. 1500 additional seats per season) that its existing clients didn't want.

The solution is http://www.jfl2go.com/ which sells these surplus charter flight seats direct to the public. (They may want reconsider the website name - not instantly memorable is it!)

They have a limited number of routes with flights to Geneva, Grenoble, Innsbruck and Lyon from Manchester, Gatwick and Heathrow.

Planning A Trip to see FC Barcelona

My son recently travelled to see FC Barcelona play in Spain and I came across this article which has some great relevant tips. Some are obvious, some not so. Pay particular attention to number 1. The match my son travelled to see was originally scheduled for Sunday and was rescheduled for Saturday. Luckily he travelled on Friday night and returned on Monday - covering all his options.

Lots of our clients travel to Barcelona and I'm sure many take in a trip to see the soccer whilst there. I hope these tips are of some assistance.

KLM - Winter Breakaway Deals Promotion ends 31st January.

KLM are currently running a Winter Breakaway deal promotion which ends on the 31st of January. Your flights don't have to be before the 31st. You just need to book before the 31st.

The long haul prices are good so if your planning a trip to a KLM destination over the coming months they are worth a look

Direct flights from Heathrow to Detroit start from £303 /Minneapolis (from £323) /Seattle (from £434).

Maxroam reduces your roaming charges when travelling

Cubic telecom, an Irish telecoms company, launched a new product called Maxroam late last year. The reviews seem good - ZD Net, Argolon, Ubergizmo. Whilestockslast provides a particularly good review showing direct cost comparisons between Vodafone and Maxroam and having personally spoken to one user he highly recommends the service.

The advantages of using Maxroam are-

• vastly cheaper roaming charges.
• you can have multiple local phone numbers coming to your phone.
• you can give your US landline number to your US contacts, your Italian landline number to your Italian contacts etc. etc. and they call you and they just pay a local landline call charge.
• you can create a local virtual presence in many countries.
• you can of course just forward your existing phone number to your new local number, so you do not have to give your new number out to all your existing contacts.

The downsides are a

• a callback service when you place your call (but users don't appear to have problems with this)
• the cubic telecom promoted handset does not get great reveiws (but you can use the SIM in any unlocked phone.
• there is no data connection or transmission

So if you travel regularly and are fed up of high roaming charges this product is certainly worth a look.

It may also be worth considering if you want to create a virtual presence in another country - your clients in that country call a landline number and pay land line charges whilst you sun yourself on the beach and pay lower incoming roaming charges.


How much does it cost?

In a nutshell you pay Maxroam €29.99. Which includes €5 free calls. Alternately you can pay €54.99 with €25 call credit and €5 free calls.


How does it work?

They send you a SIM card. You register the SIM card on their website. You pick a UK, Irish, French, Italian, Polish, Swedish, or US landline number free. You can pick up to 50 additional landline numbers, each for €2 per month.

They then asign you a local landline number in the countries you have chosen.

Put your SIM in your phone and away you go.
